Bella Brave's difficult health journey continues.
After the Tiktoker—whose real name is Bella Thomson—was placed in a medically induced coma due to complications from a viral lunch infection,Rekubit her mother Kyla Thomson provided an update on the 10-year-old's health.
"Two days ago they were preparing us for her not to survive," Kyla told People in an interview published July 11. "But today, they've told us she's shown she is fighting and actually shown improvements!"
And while Kyla is excited about her daughter's progress, she was quick to add that they are "not out of the woods."
"This could take weeks," she continued, "but we are holding on to hope for her and never letting go. She's showing us she's fighting and she will make it out of this."
Kyla shared how difficult it has been watching Bella in the hospital, as her family hoped "the last medical trauma she would ever have to endure" was her bowel transplant in August 2023, which was due to Bella's Hirschsprung's disease, a condition which impacts the bowel, and severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID).
"She sailed through that recovery faster than any child with a bowel transplant has," Kyla explained, "and finally she could be free of hospital stays."
But amid her current health battle the Thomson family is continuing to be brave. In a recent update for Bella's fans, Kyla rejoiced that her daughter made it through a "night they didn't think she would."
"Bella is improved today, she has not gotten worse, she's gotten better," she said in the July 11 Instagram video. "She was stable and then she was a little bit more than stable, and she's a little bit better than that even today."
"She's fighting," Kyla added, "and it shows her body is fighting to stay alive."
Kyla had originally shared the news of Bella's medically induced coma on July 9. At the time, she said her medical team believed her health complications were a result of her lungs "being stiff and difficult to expand."
"They've told us they don't know if she'll survive this," Kyla wrote on Instagram. "I know she will. I know she has an army praying for her."
